The nurse practitioner is a highly qualified member of the clinical team and can treat many problems which are traditionally seen by doctors. She is an independent prescriber and can diagnose, treat and refer patients.
The district nursing teams come into the Practice most days and liaise closely with the doctor, when problems are discussed and treatment plans worked out.
Your health visitors are able to advise on general health matters. They are particularly concerned with children below the age of 5 years. They are also available for "crisis" visits. The health visitors are now based at the Calvert Health Care Centre, Calvert Lane, Hull.
